Quarry Bank is a working Georgian cotton mill, built in 1784 by entrepreneur Samuel Greg, and seeks to provide a fascinating insight into the early Industrial Revolution.

See water power in action, award-winning galleries devoted to water and steam power, hands-on displays and exhibits, the restored Apprentice House, and an 1830s Beam Engine which steams daily.

The magnificent 50-ton waterwheel charts the growth of cotton textile manufacture from cottage industry to noisy weaving factory.
