Occupying an eight and a half-acre site beside the redeveloped Leeds and Liverpool Canal, Wigan Pier offers a great value for money day out for the whole family.

Visit The Way We Were Heritage Centre where you can experience Victorian Wigan: the hardships, social lives and in some instances, the entertaining times of Wigan life in the year 1900.

Visit Trencherfield Mill with its Machinery Hall where the deafening noise of the cotton spinning machines act as a reminder of the difficult conditions endured by the employees of Trencherfield Mill, and the World’s largest working mill steam engine..

You can ride on the Waterbus along the canal between the Heritage Centre and Trencherfield Mill..

Experience the Twentieth Century in a day in Opie’s Museum of Memories located within the Mill block.
