The
Borough of Macclesfield is located in north east Cheshire.
Nestling in the foothills of the southern Pennines, the area
contains several sizeable towns. They each have their own individual
characteristics, and offer a wide variety of shops. The network of
hotels, restaurants and pubs provide a varied selection for
somewhere to dine and stay.
Known as the 'Silk Town', Visitors
to Macclesfield will discover an exciting blend of attractions,
picturesque countryside, hidden villages, heritage and culture.
Historic houses are in
abundance. Here also is the world-famous Jodrell Bank, two
award-winning museums at Quarry Bank Mill and the
Macclesfield Silk Museum.
The rolling Cheshire
countryside continues up into the Peak District National Park and
provides exercise and enjoyment for the casual walker as well as
providing a well-marked network of paths and trails for the more
adventurous.
