Castlefield Urban Heritage Park

An open area of waterways, tourist attractions and cafes that reflect Manchester's industrial heritage. 

Varied outdoor events during the summer.

Blackleach Country Park

Hill Top Road, off Bolton Road, Walkden, Worsley M28

This beautiful park used to be a chemical works. The 100 acres of land was reclaimed from its industrial past through a successful campaign by Salford City Council and local people. It is ideal for walks and angling and also has a bird sanctuary and visitor's centre.

Clifton Country Park and Wet Earth Colliery
Clifton House Road, Clifton M27.
The 80-acres include woodland, grassland, ponds, a fishing lake and a visitor's centre. The park houses the industrial remains of the Wet Earth Colliery, one of the first deep mines to be sunk in the Irwell Valley.
