This beautiful park used to be a chemical works. The 100 acres of land was reclaimed from its industrial
past through a successful campaign by Salford City Council and local people. It
is ideal for walks and angling and also has a bird sanctuary and
visitor's centre.

Clifton Country Park and
Wet Earth Colliery
Clifton House Road, Clifton M27.
The 80-acres include woodland, grassland, ponds, a fishing lake and
a visitor's centre. The park houses the industrial remains of the
Wet Earth Colliery, one of the first deep mines to be sunk in the
Irwell Valley.
