Manchester Art Gallery re-opened in May 2002 after a four year, £35m transformation and now provides:
...Twice as much space for the presentation of Manchester's internationally acclaimed art collection particularly famous for its outstanding Pre-Raphaelite and Victorian paintings. Items from the rich 20th century collection and rarely-seen works on paper are on permanent display for the first time.
