The
North West contains some of Britain’s most impressive countryside
scenery.
For
naturalists there are many Countryside
Parks, wildlife sanctuaries and Nature
Reserves. Stocks Reservoir in the Trough of Bowland,
for instance, is great for bird watching and is part of an
Across the Mersey, the Wirral
peninsula has a 12 mile-long country park.
Equally
important for wildlife are the sand dunes and pinewoods at Formby,
and the ancient woodland of Stocktons Wood, part of the
historic landscape surrounding the magnificent Speke Hall.
There
are countless Parks and Gardens
such as Stanley Park and the Botanic Gardens in the
Wirral.
From
the Pennine Way, the greatest long-distance walk in
the whole of Britain to the new Trans Pennine Trail,
you will find countless Walks and
Trails, footpaths, cycle-ways, bridle-ways bird-watching walks,
butterfly hunts and hundreds more besides
