High tide is the best time to birdwatch at Gayton Sands. from the Old Baths car park near the Boathouse you can watch large flocks of wading birds driven up onto the saltmarsh. In autumn and winter there are outstanding flocks of pintails, teals, wigeons and shellducks.
The reserve is open at all times. Admission is FREE Parkgate is reached from the A540 Chester to Hoylake road.
