Healy Dell Nature reserve lies between Rochdale and Whitworth, where the River Spodden has cut a winding steep sided valley to form one of the most important clough woodlands in the locality. The variety of habitat is reflected in the range of plants, animals and birds which can be seen throuought the year. Paths, including a disused railway line, provide access for all. The trail commences at the warden’s hut some 3 km to the north west of Rochdale town centre. The visitor centre, located in the industrial area of Healey Hall Mills, houses a permanent exhibition depicting the industrial heritage of the reserve. Please check for opening hours.
