Morecambe Bay Nature Reserve

Lancashire

During migration and in winter, the reserve's sandflats and saltmarshes are vital feeding grounds for thousands of wading birds and wildfowl. At high tide, they are pushed back on to the saltmarshes, giving excellent birdwatching from Hest Bank (tide tables are available from Leighton Moss reserve).

WARNING Do not go out on to the saltmarsh or intertidal area - there are dangerous channels and quicksands.

There are trails to Eric Morecambe (wheelchair/pushchair accessible) and Allen Hides.

Hest Bank foreshore is 2 miles/3 km

north-east of Morecambe on the A5105.
