Ness Botanic Gardens was born of one man's passionate interest in plants and his desire to share that interest with others. Today, the commitment to maintain and develop the beauty of the Gardens remains, but there is an increasing emphasis on research, conservation and education of the public.

 

62 acres of gardens, greenhouses and experimental grounds. Magnificent rhododendrons in the spring. Fascinating herbaceous border in summer. Autumn tints from heathers, maples and sorbus.

A range of interest trails and childrens' play and picnic areas ( no ball games permitted).

 

Facilities

Mechanised and other wheelchairs available ( please reserve by phone ); toilet for disabled persons.

Free Parking for over 1000 cars and coaches.

Visitor Centre with indoor exhibitions.

Gift shop and plant sales.

Licensed refreshment rooms; light lunches.

School and other parties welcomed; guides available.

Conference facilities: weddings, parties and other functions catered for.

Open every day except Christmas Day
Mar-Oct 9.30 am - dusk,    Nov-Feb 9.30 am -4.00 pm.
