Aberdour Castle

A 14th century castle built by the Douglas family. The gallery on the 1st floor gives an idea of how it was furnished at the time. The castle has a delightful walled garden and dovecot.

A large and sophisticated castle, with a spectacular facade of faceted stonework in an Italian style, added following a visit to Italy by the Earl of Bothwell between 1581 and 1591.


Huntly Castle

Set in a beautiful wooded riverside setting this fine hall house, built in the 16th and 17th Centuries for the Gordon family, is famed for the fine heraldic sculpture and inscribed stone friezes.

One of the most famous ruins in Scotland. A spectacular cliff top ruin overlooking the stormy North Sea. Great care must be taken on the cliffs around the castle.
