Bodnant Garden

One of the world’s most spectacular gardens, situated high above the River Conwy with stunning views across Snowdonia. Begun in 1875, Bodnant is the creation of four generations of Aberconways and features huge Italianate terraces and formal lawns on its upper level, with a wooded valley, stream and wild garden below. There are dramatic colours throughout the season, with notable collections of rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias and the spectacular laburnum arch, a 55-metre tunnel of golden blooms, in May.

Colby Woodland Gardens

Attractive woodland garden with a fine collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. There are beautiful walks through secluded valleys along open and wooded pathways.   Note: The early 19th-century house is not open; Mr & Mrs A. Scourfield Lewis kindly allow access to the walled garden during visiting hours.

Dinefwr Park

An 18th-century landscape and ancient deer park surrounding Newton House, built in 1660 but now with a Victorian Gothic façade. An exhibition explains the importance of Dinefwr in Welsh history. The fountain garden, currently under restoration, overlooks the ancient deer park, in which live the famous Dinefwr White Park cattle. There are fine views over the Towy Valley with an ice house and boardwalk suitable for families and wheelchair users. There is also access to Dinefwr Castle, owned by the Wildlife Trust West Wales, and to the privately owned walled garden (by kind permission of Mr K. Ross).

Upton Castle Garden

The Gardens surround a fine medieval castle.  The castle's grounds are open to the public, and include: Footpaths through 35 acres of mature woodland.  Medieval chapel with family memorials from the 13th century .Picnic site with tables and benches. Floral terraces with rose gardens and herbaceous borders.
